Job Description:

Hart district is a place where tradition and innovation co-exist. We offer a fantastic quality of life and have repeatedly been identified as the best place to live in the UK, whilst still being 40 minutes from central London, and the same distance from the south coast. We're an ambitious council, but there's little traditional in how we operate, with commercial partnerships and shared services which have helped us to establish a business model that's more than fit for the future.

This role offers a portfolio with strategic oversight of the services that directly impact on quality of life in our district. You'll be our strategic lead for Housing service, overseeing all aspects of housing strategy, including private sector housing and housing allocations. You'll also be responsible for community Safety, delivered through an innovative partnership model - the safer North Hampshire partnership, which sees us work alongside Basingstoke and Rushmoor councils and more than 30 partnership agencies.

This is a visible and influential role, and you can expect considerable opportunity to develop your corporate leadership experience. You'll need to bring a breadth of perspective, drawing on technical expertise and advice, but retaining a  focus on outcomes and corporate objectives. Its important that you recognise the political dynamic of this role's portfolio and that you can work constructively to respond to challenge and scrutiny. The ability to see beyond the immediate, to anticipate and plan for changes in policy or priorities while maintaining momentum will be key.
